HMS Trincomalee & Historic Quay
While staying for a long weekend in the north east of England in October 2022 we had time, before leaving for home on our last morning, to revisit the frigate HMS Trincomalee at the National Royal Navy Museum in Hartlepool. We always wanted to revisit but I know it must be years ago as I didn’t have a digital camera that took movie footage back then.
The Trincomalee was built in 1817 and has had a few different names while in service for over 200 years but it was decided that her name would be “HMS Trincomalee” when she came to be restored in Hartlepool. She is one of only two Leda-Class frigates that have survived, the other is HM Unicorn built in 1824, that is now a visitor attraction in Dundee, Scotland.
I know some of you do not like me putting a little information in my videos but I think, for this video, some was needed so I kept it as brief as I could.
I hope you enjoy this video about HMS Trincomalee as much as I did and thank you for viewing.

Feathered Friends In The Garden
Переглядів 1466 місяців тому
It has taken me a long time to finally edit some of the footage I took last year of the birds that come to my garden. The ones in this video were taken from early January to the third week in March 2023. In the first three months of that year we only had two very light falls of snow but the rest of the year was not very good in north Yorkshire. A very warm spell in Summer was soon taken over by...

Leaving Glen Coe to Visit The Pineapple

We had six fine days last August staying in Fort William and re-visiting some places we had not been back to for many years. I felt quite sad the day we had to leave as we drove through Glen Coe to our overnight stop near Stirling, stopping near Loch Tulla for lunch with a last view of the mountains as we left. Little did I know back then it was the last time I would ever be there again with my...

I am sorry it has been a while since I put the next video I took in Scotland last year but sadness in the family has delayed me putting it on. We went to Burton Agnes Hall last week to see their woodland snowdrops. Although we have been to their beautiful Walled Garden a few times it is five years since we last went to see their snowdrops. When we arrived it was bright with some sun but the Woodlan...

Thank you Carmen I also loved the Otters as they were so loveable and I saw one otter carrying grass into their indoor area so I wonder if she had any baby otters in there. I did miss the ducks and geese that were missing as they have a lot of different ones there, but they had to keep them safe as the bird flu was bad that October so they were all but a few kept in isolation until it was safe to return them to their pools. Have a happy day. Warm greetings, Julie 🙏🏻🌺🌞

Hi Julie, I'm just stopping by to say hello and tell you that I hope your summer has been going well. You've not been far from my thoughts. I had a bad case of poison ivy. My bad - I shouldn't have been pulling out vines/weeds without garden gloves. I'm finally on the mend now. Amen! Drop a note when you can. I hope that all is ok! Warm, warm wishes. Linda

Wonderful upload here Julie, reminds me of a school trip I went on to Greenwich. The Cutty Sark was there and still is in dry dock, can you believe I actually got sea sick as it was still in water, really weird that. Also right next to it I went aboard the Gypsy Moth which was used by Sir Frances Chichester to sail single handed around the world. That was an amazing day. Take care and kind regards. Geoff

Hi Geoff, I know what you mean as we went to see The Mary Rose, that sunk in Henry Vlll time, I think and had just been found and brought to the surface. It was not long after they put her open to the public and there was sea water around and they were spraying her all the time to stop any recay forming. I have been lucky as I cannot swim so do not like a trip out at sea but I do not mind the ferry trips to different islands in Scotland and I have never felt sick on them. I follow close family who have a boat with his daughter and her future husband. They keep it in Gosport Marina and they always tell be where they will be sailing on a weekend ay this time of the year or if they have entered a race. I lke to follow them when I can but via the computer with the help of www.marinetraffic.com who usually find a boat by its name especially if they are sailing or racing in the Solent. Takes my mind off thibgs for a while as well. Hope you are getting about more. I am still only getting out, other than for shopping and looking after the garden but I might still get to a garden near before summer is over. Have a good weekend Geoff. Warm greetings, Julie

Hi Brenda, So good of you to view my viseo. I took a log time to editi it as it was the last day of our last holiday together. I do not think I will ever manage my life without him but I do try. I want to get out in the car and visit some gardens near me but have not plucked up courage yet as we always went everywhere together since my hubby took early retirement. I relied on him helping me so much with my balance problem since my back op. 4 years ago. It was all such an unexpected shock to friends and family as he was so well. I have been looking at many of yours and other friend's videos but have not managed to add a comment to many of them. I got a smart phone after Easter but I find it is not as good for typing messages as I am used to the big computer screen and so more often than not, give up in the end. Hope all is going well with you Brenda. I recall you were going to have some new treatment or perhaps I am wrong. I hope whatever you have to do to keep well is working. You are a fighter and I admire you so much for that. Have a good weekend with nice weather. Our weather has been shocking since last October and still chilly on a night even it is June, so putting tender bedding plants in is trial and error. The ones I put in a week ago look ok but I have a lot to put in the back garden that are inside the shed. This weekend it might be wormer so I will be out in the garden if it is. Have a great Friday and weekend. Warmest greetings, Julie 💕🌸🙏🏻

Thanks Steve, Many of the Royal Navy Museums have now got old vessels being restored and we have seen a couple down south and then the one at Dundee. Trincomalee had many named in her 200 years as these ships were taken out of service by the navy for a year or so and then brought back. I think Hartlepool have done a great job of the Historic Quay. he is a lot of talking in most of the shops there but I would have been there weeks if I had recorded it all hence the little I popped in. Just been told I need iron injections...Doc says she will try me with tablets first. Wish they would leave me to fade away. I am still trying to pluck up courage to go out on my own to some gardens but it is taking time. Have a great weekend and you enjoy your time together as much as you can. I am pleased we did. Many thanks, Helena, We really enjoyed that visit but it took me a few months to get stared when it came to editing but I was pleased I got there. The lovely weather that October added to a very interesting morning. There is much more to see as they have a part for children but we couldn't stay any longer. Happy day and have a good weekend.Warmest greetings, Julie 🐦😊

Dear dear Julie, It's wonderful to find this post tonight. I adore the music you've chosen and the sights of the ship and the quay take us right there with you. I didn't mind the information in this video; it enhanced my experience, for sure. I hope that the days have been kind to you there, my dear dear friend. Warmest wishes, Linda

I'm glad you like it dear Linda and I am so pleased you said you liked the music as I felt it went quite well. It took me such a long time to tackle editing all the footage as It was the last place we visited together. I didn't realise it had been so many years since I saw HMS Trincomalee but as we were staying quiet near that weekend we decided to drop in for the morning on our way home. I am so pleased we did as it was a lovely day for taking video. I am pleased you liked the info I put on. I felt it was needed and there was more before I scaled it down to a minimum. I had just finished our family tree a few years back and I went to see "The City of Adelaide" when she was in dry dock at Irvine , Scotland when there was talk of who should restore her, Sunderland, in England where she was built or Adelaide in South Australia and she was the ship who took my ancestors from Cornwall to Australia back in 1867 and 1874. I was hoping England would get it but Adelaide won. They let be see her when I told them why I was interested but she was an awful wreck but I was surprised how emotional I felt. Then I few months later I watch on TV as she was taken out of the docks in London on her way to Australia and I was very moving to watch. However, they restored her wonderfully in Adelaide. Sorry I have gone on a bit. I am still trying to pluck up courage to go out to visit a garden on my own. I am trying hard and hope to soon even if just one very close. Hope you are keeping well and I will be getting to see more UA-cam as the garden takes less time. Enjoy your weekend. Warmest greetings dear friend, Julie

So pleased you enjoyed it Roni. We only had the morning there but there is a lot for children and a small film at the other side of the quay I think so it attracts all ages. I was happy we got to see it again as I didn't take video when we went just after it opened. I see what you mean about reflections on the windows. I didn't see them when I was taking the video but saw them after. That lovely sunny day helped. Have a great weekend, Warm greetings Julie🧡🍀🌺

Keep trying as I know birds are pretty quick if they see a camera. I have not tried with my phone but I know my friends have had good results using theirs and can zoom in with it. I am lucky I can usually get close with my camera from inside the living room so the birds do not see me or I would not get much movie footage at all. Keep trying and I am sure you will succeed. Thank you for viewing my channel. Warm greetings, Julie👍

Hi Julie. Hope you are ok. I'm sorry I haven't posted any new content for some while. I do have quite a backlog of stuff but various things have stopped me from uploading. Working and finding work seems to be using up a lot of my time, but also for some reason just feeling out of sorts at the moment, so many changes and added stress don't help but we'll get there. I guess you are feeling lots of different types of emotions, especially what has happened to you recently and that all takes time. You must also be feeling a lot of stress at times, i hope it is becoming more easier to cope with it all. I was doing a gig one morning only to return to my car being smashed up apparently by an HGV of sorts, No one saw anything and the lorry never left anything on my windscreen, sadly it was a complete write off. Anyhow, I do so hope that this year is kinder to you. Take care and best wishes. Geoff

Hi Geoff, Saw your message last week but didn't get around to answering. Sorry to hear you have had such a run of bad luck with your car. I have two dings in mine, both while I shopped in Tesco. One in June last year but I didn't find it until I was getting some rain off the car before putting it in the garage. I felt the ding first and it isn't much but would still cost to get it put right . Next was about Christmas and it was a front wing but looked worse that it was when I washed the grass and dirt off it. Looked lake a farm car had fried to pull into the space next to me as it was muddy. The front bumper took most of it but I was so upset as no message and so I am leaving them both for now as no paint work is damaged. Someone said there is a firm called "Bumps and Scrapes" that do the job cheaper than Audi garage would and as the car is old I don't feel like bothering. Hope you are feeing a bit better as I could tell you were feeling low. I get like that every November and cheer up in Spring but not this year. I can't shake it off and it took be ages to edit the last video together. I put it on last weekend but my heart was not in it. I have tried but I know life will never be the same and I am not one for mixing even though I do have some good neighbours near but it is not the same as having my late husband with me. We met at 16 married at just under 21 and he was perfect and I do miss him. You must have a lot of stress as well, having to get bookings in this day and age. The country and the World are all very depressing when I tune into the news. Something will turn up for you, I am sure as you have some great gifts. You seem to be good at such a lot and I know you have a lovely voice. If you are feeling low, l know how hard it is to look on the positive side. My husband was the opposite to me as he never got depressed or didn't show it. I have not yet got out to any gardens etc. and I really want to before I give up driving but I will try, even if it is not far from home. My garden helps and I am busy with that. I have a chap who cuts the grass and he will do anything that is too hard for me but I have always loved the garden but like us all I am getting on now and not good as I was after a back op. 4 years ago.. Take care Geoff. Love hearing from you so drop me a few words now and then. Hope more comes your way soon. I know I am lucky that I really want for nothing but that does not replace happiness. Like me I think you need some motivation. Have a great weekend and thanks again for your kind words, I do appreciate them. Best wishes, Julie

Hi Again Julie. Lovely reply there. It's good to see your uploads and postings on here, but like you say it won't be the same for you as it was before. I'm hoping for you that there will be something strong enough to give you more happiness and incentives in some way or another, and I'm sure it will eventually, but in the mean time it must be a great struggle for you and it will take a lot of time. Sorry about your car too, it's more than frustrating when you have these things happen, especially when no one owns up, can often leave you out of pocket, does your insurance cover any of this at all? I had to quickly find another car, and although I had some money back from the original car it wasn't a great deal and i had to find a fair amount to buy another one, I need it mainly for my work but also where I live too which is not in the town and no buses close by. I eventually decided to upload something today, I haven't put anything up for literally months, It's not the uploading but more the time it takes to edit, I don't mind but I notice I'm not quite so patient as i was, hopefully that will come back, but I did really love all the fun editing, I guess change is inevitable and it's knowing how to or if you can adapt to something that is just as comfortable, I'm sure it will present itself one way or another. Good to hear you are keeping yourself somewhat busy in your garden, and I guess when you are ready to want to visit some of the big stately home gardens. I did for the first time visit Dover Castle last Sunday, not far from me, big grounds and interesting within the castle itself, we got to talk to a mock Henry the eighth which was fun as he was acting in first person. Also there were the wartime tunnels that Winston Churchill often visited, there were telephone exchanges and lots of offices below, also had short film shows too. well hope that happiness and peace of mind comes your way very soon, Take care Julie, let's also hope for some decent sunny weather. Best wishes. Geoff

Thank you for viewing Carmen. This time of the year the birds are nesting and feeding their young so I am filling the bird feeders up every day. I love to see them and would miss them so much if they didn't come to my bird feeders. I have seen some baby Blue tits that have already left the nest so there will be more over the next few weeks. I love the Robins at this time of the years. I have seen two this Spring but one is always very close when I am in the garden hoping I will turn some soil over so it can catch a worm or grub. Have a happy weekend. Warm greetings, Julie 🍀🌺🐤

Thank you for visiting my channel. Yes, these birds are very interesting and I do like to see them. I think many do not like to the bigger black birds like Crows, Rooks, Magpies and Jackdaws in their garden but I quite like them. They are not as aggressive to each other as some birds. I think the Jackdaws like the car park at Castle Howard in the hope of getting a few crumbs from visitors who eat their lunch in the car. We had gone to the garden centre there that day and sat a while just watching these birds. Have a happy day. Warm greetings, Julie🌈🌞
